Why Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide?

Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide is the only grade that has no impurities or additives often added by manufacturers for a variety of reasons. For instance, electrical grade Hydrogen Peroxide, which is used for washing Transistors and Integrated Microchip parts before assembly, has additives and stabilizers added to it, depending on the manufacturing and diluting process being used.

Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide comes at a strength of 35% mixed with distilled water. This is the strongest dilution stable in water. When diluted into weaker strengths, Hydrogen Peroxide has many different applications.

Hydrogen Peroxide is Generally Recognised As Safe (GRAS) as an antimicrobial agent and an oxidising agent by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is widely prescribed across Europe as a disinfectant for cleaning surgical wounds and is used within the British National Health Service (NHS) to deep clean hospital wards and ambulances. This work is undertaken by a company called Bioquell, who use a Hydrogen Peroxide vapour (HPV) to eradicate bacteria, viruses and fungi from hospital wards and equipment, including the notorious MRSA virus.

Making a 3% solution Of Hydrogen Peroxide

To make a 3% solution of Hydrogen Peroxide from a full strength 35% solution, dilute 1 part 35% Hydrogen Peroxide to 11 parts distilled water. For example - to make 600ml of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, add 50ml of 35% solution to 550ml of distilled water. We use distilled water as it contains no minerals or contaminants (like Chlorine and Fluoride in tap water) that would react with the free oxygen atom.

A Few Health Uses Of Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide as Nasal Wash

Rest your head back and spray or drop a 1:1 (50/50) mix of 3% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide and distilled water into the nose during a cold or if you have blocked sinuses. Wait for a moment then blow your nose into a tissue. This helps to clear the bacteria and/or virus causing the symptoms. You can also use the same solution to clear ears and treat infections.

Hydrogen Peroxide for the First Signs of a Cold

Lie down, turn your head to the side and put a few drops of 3% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide into your ear. Leave for a few minutes while it bubbles and then turn your head and wipe with a tissue. Repeat for the other ear.

Hydrogen Peroxide As a Foot Soak

Combine 100 - 200ml of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide with a few tablespoons of Epsom Salts and add to a bowl of warm water. This helps cuts, calluses, scaly skin and athletes foot.

Hydrogen Peroxide as a Bath Soak

Add 280 - 560ml of 35% Hydrogen Peroxide to a full bath. You can also add 1/2 a cup of Epsom salts for a detox soak. Please be aware that using this highly oxygenating soak can keep you awake so you may wish to avoid doing it shortly before bedtime.

Hydrogen Peroxide for Dental Hygiene

You can use 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to soak toothbrushes and kill germs.

Hydrogen Peroxide as a Mouthwash

You can use a 1:1 (50/50) mixture of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and distilled water. This will help fight oral diseases and whiten teeth.

Hydrogen Peroxide as a Body Spray

You can simply use 3% strength Hydrogen Peroxide and spray on lightly.

Hydrogen Peroxide as a Facial Cleanser

Just use 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and apply to your face after washing and before bed, using cotton wool.

Hydrogen Peroxide as a Natural Toothpaste

Combine 1/4 cup of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide with 1/2 a cup of Bicarbonate of Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate or Baking Soda). Store in a opaque container so that light cannot decompose the Hydrogen Peroxide.
